Euphoria: Solo Exhibition at The Warehouse, Dubai

The exhibition took self-transcendence as its theme: the lift of feeling part of something larger than yourself. Rima set it against a materialistic, self-absorbed age, and offered the paintings as a counterweight, an invitation to look outward rather than in.

She approached the theme through colour, which she has always used for its effect on feeling. Here the palettes were chosen to clear away negativity and leave room for elation, gratitude and a sense of awe. Gulf Today likened her handling of colour to a pianist’s touch, shaping feeling the way a musician shapes a phrase.

Her vocabulary of colour gives joy many voices. In her own reading, yellow and orange are happiness, green is stillness and blue is healing, and each painting is built from several at once, the way a real feeling is.

The Warehouse is in Al Quoz, the district at the heart of Dubai’s gallery scene, a change of setting after two exhibitions in DIFC.
