Rima Chahine was among the artists in Nature, a group exhibition at Bedia Gallery in Dubai. It opened on the evening of 26 May 2023, from six to nine, and ran until 31 May, bringing together work in many styles around one theme: the natural world and our place in it.

The exhibition

The show gathered landscapes, botanical studies and abstraction, each a different way of looking at nature and our relationship with it. Bedia Gallery, whose stated mission is to support talented artists, hung the works together so that one theme could be seen through many eyes.

Rima on the evening

Rima spoke about the exhibition at the opening, and about what it meant to show alongside other artists.

Nature in her painting

The theme is close to her work. The layered colour of her canvases has always drawn on landscape and the seasons, above all the autumns of Montreal where she grew up, and her palette gives each colour a feeling: green for stillness, blue for healing.

In her collection the theme runs through Autumn Whispers (2018, 120 × 150 cm), all warm oranges and browns, and Miracles (2021), whose swirling colour evokes stars and galaxies. See more of her paintings in the gallery.
